I haven't posted in a few weeks, so I thought I'd pop in and write a quick post. Due to COVID-19 and the resulting lock-downs, I have a lot more time on my hands and I find myself organizing everything-- this includes my phone.
In the past, I didn't organize my phone (specifically my apps) in any particular why. I'd just download an app and eventually delete it when I ran out of storage. This isn't really an issue anymore as my phone has 128 GB. Regardless, I think it's really important to declutter and organize your phone (and computer) often.
Here's my phone background. I try to switch out my background every few months. I don't stick to a seasonal theme, I just find a background I like and go from there. Sidenote: I wish iPhones had a folder for previous phone backgrounds, alas. I find the majority of backgrounds on Pinterest, or sometimes The Everygirl (although I don't really like backgrounds with quotes).
Here's what my phone actually looks like. The first page contains the pre-installed apps that come with your iPhone and the second page contains a few of the pre-installed Apple apps as well as the apps I downloaded, grouped in folders by type. My apps are sorted into the following folders:
- Entertainment: Netflix, AT&T TV, Hulu, Disney+
- Finance: Ally Bank, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Venmo, Robinhood
- Food: Postmates, Uber Eats, Door Dash, Panera, Chick-Fil-A, Roti, Starbucks, Sweetgreen, McDonald's (don't ask)
- Games: 2048, Candy Crush, Choices, Logic Puzzles, HeyDay, Bitlife, Design Home
- Google: Gmail, Google Photos, Google Drive, Google Home
- Health & Fitness: MindBody, CVS Pharmacy, Clue
- Lifestyle: Bumble, Hinge, Duolingo, Tasty, Yelp, The Pattern, Co-Star, Calm, Spotify, Whole Foods, Unfold
- Reading: Libby, Book of the Month, British Vogue
- Shopping: The Outnet, Sephora, Shopbop, Target, Saks Fifth Avenue, Rent the Runway, Clover, Rakuten/Ebates, Amazon, Prime Now
- Social Media: Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, WhatsApp, TikTok, YouTube, Group Me, Facebook Messenger
- Travel: Lyft, Uber, Transit
- Utilities: AT&T Call Protect, Amazon Alexa, Norton Ad Blocker, Evernote, Shop (aka Arrive), Gifitize, Workplace, Lookout, Huji, FaceTune, Gif Keyboard, Clips, VSCO, Zoom, Calculate Tip (I created this using the iPhone Shortcuts app), Duo Mobile
Looking at this list, I use only a small fraction of these apps, the majority of them should be uninstalled (another item of for my ever-growing To-Do list). For example, I've never used RTR and doubt I ever will, so it'll be among the first apps to be removed.
Anyways, that's my list! I'm sure I'll make changes to the types of (and numbers of apps) I have on my phone and will probably stick with the "essentials" aka apps I used regularly and often. In that case, I'll definitely update this post.
